Zapata Falls (Summertime)

by Matt Snow
(Castle Rock, Co.)

Mouth of falls

Mouth of falls

We really enjoyed Zapata Falls. Absolutely amazing.
We actually climbed into the falls themselves and stood under the cold falls. Absolutely breathtaking (quite literally) but well worth it. This experience and memory will be everlasting from a wonderful weekend at the Great Sand Dunes National Park. WE will definitely visit the falls again in the future. Thanks for such a wonderful site. We love to hike and use this site quite often..
One more thing. If you plan on camping at the Dunes please make the effort to visit the "crazy lady", (just kidding, she was really nice) at the Alien Watchtower.
And a visit to the Colorado Gator Farm is a must.
UNBELIEVABLE...
Both sites are about 30-40 mins. from the
Dunes National Park. All sites are internet accessible for the necessary info.
Enjoy.

Centennial Falls
by: Doug Thomas

I hiked up to Centennial Falls this summer (2010). It was a challenging hike, the kind that I seek. Plus my photography of the falls turned out really well, considering I was experimenting with photographing the falls. Some trails are not well marked so a topo map would be recommended.

This was one of the best hikes I've taken this year, thanks to this website! I'm looking for more waterfall hikes for next summer!
