Estes Park Is a
Hiking Vacation Paradise

Estes Park is a lucky town because it sits right next to Rocky Mountain National Park. In addition, you'll find plenty of lodging, restaurants, and shopping for all your hiking needs. So if you're looking for a place to spend a Colorado hiking vacation, this is definitely a good place to start.

As I mentioned, there is all sorts of lodging in this town. It ranges from hotels to lodges, cabins, condos, and bed and breakfasts. Click here for some lodging ideas. Many of these places are close to the national park, and if you like wildlife, (such as elk), you're in luck because the elk are often found right in town, especially in winter.

Restaurants here are also numerous. You'll find American food, pizza/pasta, seafood, Mexican food, and vegetarian food, among other things. So you'll most likely be able to find something you like. Click here for a few ideas. Some of these restaurants have views of the mountains, and you'll be able to see which ones they are in the above link.

As you might expect, you'll find lots of shopping here. If you need hiking boots, day packs, camping gear, snowshoes, or any other types of hiking-related items for your hiking vacation, there are a number of stores that provide them. Just take a stroll along the main street in town, and you're bound to find them.

So, are you ready to go hiking? If you are, you can check out my Rocky Mountain National Park page. It tells you a little about the park, and includes links to many of the hikes you'll find there. Happy hiking, and keep an eye out for deer, and/or elk.

Getting to this mountain town from the Denver area is fairly easy and direct. Here are the directions: take I-25 north to exit 243, which goes to Longmont/Lyons. Turn left, (west), on highway 66. Shortly after making this turn, you'll see a sign that shows the town as being 36 miles away. Follow highway 66 into Lyons, at which point the highway turns into highway 36 west. Follow this highway straight to this wonderful town and enjoy your Colorado hiking vacation!
